The ladies of Zeta Upsilon Omega
Chapter hosted 800 guests for our 4th biennial Essence of
Ebony Pearls Debutante Scholarship Cotillion on March 17,
2007 awarding $12,000 in scholarships to high-achieving high
school juniors and seniors. The grand event was emceed by
Erica Riggins, Bay News 9 Anchor/Reporter and Mr. Tim Kelly,
State of Florida.
The chapter was honored to
provide each debutante and escort appreciation gift. NaKena
Cromartie was recognized for Miss Community Service.
Desiree Roberts received recognition for Miss
Congeniality and a scholarship for Miss Supreme Spirit
2007. Honorable Mention went to Jasmine Mondy, 3rd
Attendant was Kara Irby, 2nd Attendant awarded to Karla
King, and Janita Truitt was awarded 1st
Attendant. Crowned by Miss Debutante 2005, Sakira Hadley
(University of Florida), the honor of Miss Debutante
2007 was awarded to Demetria Bizell, a graduating
senior from Lakewood High School and the daughter of
Dharvette Reid. Demetria will be attending Florida State
University this Fall.
The next cotillion is March 21, 2009. Thank you to all of
